MARKET DAY Volunteer Opportunities
InfO Booth SuperstarS
Be a friendly face at the heart of the market! Welcome visitors, answer questions, help customers find their favorite vendors and navigate the market, share information about market programs and activities, help visitors check out BFM merchandise, and encourage customers to sign up for our weekly newsletter and SMS alerts. Most of all, help make every visitor feel welcome and connected to BFM!
Set-Up / Tear Down
We truly couldn’t make market day happen without this team! This is a physical, hands-on volunteer role—and a great way to get a workout while making a real difference. Help us set up tents, tables, chairs, signs and handwashing stations before the market opens, or join us at the end of the day to take everything down and put it safely into storage. This is one of our most important volunteer needs, and every extra set of hands makes a huge difference!
VENDOR SUPPORT
Provide BFM vendors support during their long day at the market. Distribute food access signage to each vendor booth, offer water bottle and coffee refills to vendors, help at vendor booths that are short-staffed, assist with customer line management, be on-hand to watch a booth for vendor staff bathroom breaks, and pass out vendor checkout slips at the end of the market day.
Market day ChampionS
Be part of the team that makes BFM a friendly gathering place each week! Greet customers at our entrances, count market customers as they enter (essential for our data collection), hand out shopper giveaways, assist in keeping our dining areas and overall market site clean and stocked, gather insight from shoppers by staffing our "dot survey" questions, refill dog water bowls and thank market patrons as they exit with their market hauls.
Market Photographer
Help us capture the energy of market day! Photographers take photos and short videos based on a shot list provided by the Market Director, while also keeping an eye out for those spontaneous moments that make BFM special—colorful produce, delicious food, busy vendor booths, happy customers and the lively atmosphere of the market. Your photos and videos will help tell the BFM story through our social media, newsletter, website and other promotional materials.
KIDS “POP” Club Team
Help make the market fun and engaging for our youngest visitors! Assist with weekly Power of Produce (POP) Club activities, including hands-on experiments, games, crafts and other educational experiences that connect kids with local food, farming and the farmers market. You may help kids with an activity, explain how it works, replenish supplies, and keep the POP Club area organized, welcoming and ready for fun.
Adopt-a-board
Help spread the word about market day right in your neighborhood! Each Thursday morning, place a BFM A-Board on a public sidewalk near your home, then bring it back in Thursday evening. You’ll simply store the sign at your home between market days throughout the regular season. It’s an easy but important way to help more people discover the market! Will you join us and pledge to Adopt-A-Board today? Fill out this easy form (click here) and you will be contacted with more information.
